no password prompt after root login

thanks in advance to responder!

when the computer start and the login prompt appears, i login "root" or any other registered users but the password prompt do not appear. it will go back again to login prompt. unfortunate the ssh has been disabled.

any help pls.....

Hi,

Try to start the system in linux single (init 1) and check your /etc/passwd file ...
