No initial console found, new Slack 9 install

I just got my install of Slack 9.0 installed, and it be borked. If I boot from LILO on the MBR, I get to the init portion, and it announces that:

No init found
Kernel Panic: No initial console found.

How do I fix? I can't find this in a search.

TIA for any answers, I've never had this problem before.

you should boot from the CD and redo the liloconfig bit. Did you already have another distro installed? I think this might be what's messing it up.
