no gif

i just recently installed kde222 on my machine. but i forgot to install the gif library before, so now, i cannot view any gifs. (that would not be a problem at all, but many web-pages use gif, so i have no chance to view them...)

my question is: do i have to recompile the qt library with gif support, or all of kde (kdelibs and kdebase) AND qt, to get the ability to view gifs?

any hel is appreciated.
