no desktop GUI for root??

please help.

as root, I changed desktop settings from KDE to a third selection which I forget. It wasn't gnome....tv...? something....so i rebooted.

then I did #startx

it tryed to load a gui, but i got an error and kicked back out to the command prompt.....

XIM DEBUG: /root/.Xclinets: /root/.Xclients-default: No such file or directory /root/.Xclinets: exec: /root/ .Xclients-default: cannot execute: No such file or directory

???? what do i need to do to get back into gui???

I can use startx to get to KDE as a user, but not as root.

thanks
CK

I figured it out myself.!!!!

I stumbled upon the switchdesk command while browsing through my installed programs in WEBMIN.....I love that program!!

so I ran switchdesk from the command prompt
and it said i had to remove the file: /root/.Xclinets

so I did: # rm /root/.Xclinets
# Y?

Yup

and I was able to startx as normal.

I was PISSED. now i'm calm and relaxed.

later,
CK
