NMI received


Hi,

I get these messages when booting Red Hat Linux 8.0

NMI Received.Dazed and Confused.But still Trying.

You Probably have a hardware problem with Your RAM Chips.

Pleasee help me solve this and why am i getting this error.

How much hardware do you have - that error can me caused by an underpowered power supply

hi,

Mine is an IBM Eserver x225 System
Intel Xeon Processor 2.2 Ghz and 1GB Ram.
It has an Onboard Eth Card - Broadcom NetXtreme 10/100/1000
and an Intel Ether express 10/100 add on network device.

hmmm - i have a few of those and other e-server models - al running Redhat 7.3 or 8.0 - i've never seen that error on these servers.
I did some research on the error and found for each reference it came down to not enough power being distributed - i.e. a defective or underpowered p.s.

At this point i would call ibm and get a replacemnt p.s.
