Nice backup utility for X?

I thought I backed up my entire system correctly by typing this:
>tar -cvf /dev/st0 /
But that didn't seem to do the trick. Forunately I was able to return my system to normal conditions (after MANY hours)

So is there anything for X that will work beautifully without a hitch or worries?

You could goto www.freshmeat.net and take a look at all of their archiving tools. Currently, I am using "dump" as my backup program and its working flawlessly. "dump" comes with a restoring program that was written hand-in-hand with each other and its called "restore". But "dump" is a backup program that is ran in a terminal (unless you cron the job). Depending on your distribution, I've heard good things about Amanda. Again, take a look at that site and you'll see how many different backup utilities exist. Good Luck.

I use Mondo Rescue 1.67, which itself uses afio (mandy users need to d/l that from cooker). Text based but easy to use... has a menu-driven mode, just type # mondoarchive.
