NIC wont get IP after restoring image..
so I built a suse system that we want to use for a few workstations that we are putting in, and since our ancient altiris imaging program couldnt handle the ext partitions we imaged it hard drive to hard drive using a hard drive duplicator.
Now when I boot onto the hard drive from what I believe is a different computer than I used to create the image, everything seems to work except the network card. I can take the interface down or bring it up, there is a link light, and it is set to use DHCP but it does not get an address. I am thinking this has something to do with a file somewhere on the computer referencing an incorrect mac address...any ideas? |
Well, yeah, if you've got it setup for networking just like the original machine that is on the network, I'd say you need to reconfigure the network settings.

what settings do I need to reconfigure if its a DHCP client?
