newb with usb questions

I currently have a SURFboard Cable Modem which is connected using USB. I have COMPAQ ipaq pocket pc attached using USB. also got a wireless mouse attached using USB and a keyboard attached using USB.

How would I go about setting all these up to work in RedHat 8.0... It does not self detect all these devices... I cant even use my keyboard ! heh i had to connect another one using PS/2 connection... as far as my cable modem ... would I have to connect this to ethernet to make this work or is there a way to make it work using USB... and the same with my handheld and mouse...

thanks

AFAIK you should be able to get keyboard and mouse running. The modem might be more of a problem. Have you tried searching on Google?

There are a number of posts about cable modems and usb/ethernet on this forum - you won't get the modem working via USB, you're best bet is to install an ethernet card and then use that. This will of course leave you with a free USB port on your modem and you could then use that for a Windows pc (if you have one).

Keyboard and mouse should be detected - I have an MS Intellimouse Explorer connected via USB and both RH8 and Mandrake 9 detected and installed them correctly.
