new netbook with linpus linux lite v1.0.3E. how can upgrade with XP ?
hi all,
i´m one newbie heer and with linux also. bought acer aspire one with linux. would like have windows xp too, because the cardgames, like solitaire, arachnid and bridge. what is the best to do ? thx peter |
welcome!!
That netbook is not intended as a general-purpose computer and has very limited storage. I doubt if you can set up both Linux and Windows in dual-boot on the internal flash memory. Note that Acer will be releasing a Windows version which has more RAM, a hard drive, and costs more. One thing to look into would be running Windows from an external USB hard drive. PS: Enter "aspire one" into a Google search and you will find a lot of resources |
You said Linux but there are a lot of LInux distros
Most linux distros can be downloaded free of charge DId you get you,re LInux distro too IF not download a Linux distro of you,re choice first and burn it as iso image and test it Installing Windows mean that you lost GRUB So you need the LINUX CD to repair GRUB Most easy way install Windows XP first and than LINUX , but Linux and WIndows use a different file system We must format a part of hard drive in NTFS the normal file system XP If you need more info post again |

Note that the Windows version comes with a 120GB hard drive. The Acer site implies that this drive is an option---I wonder if you can install one into the Linux version??? |
