New Installation
 

I have a new Linux box thrown in my lap to setup for the NWS. New job too. Pretty cool also.
It is running RH 7.1 Seawolf. Kernel 2.4.2
I have noticed in the Forums everyone is asking questions about every version but mine. 7.3.. 8.0 etc..
Does this make a difference when referring to the help answers people are giving.
Such as when I attempt to telnet to itself, it hangs. Same with ftp.
These seem to be activated..
Any simple ideas? I'm a newbie at this of course..

Welcome to LQ, Unixpirate.

The main reason that people tend not to be using RH7.1 is because it was broken. They managed to buggar it up nicely, and so 7.2 was released pretty quickly.
