OK, long time reader, first time poster.
When i set up my machine I originally intended to have 2 HDD's - one linux(s) and the other winxp. Could only afford one though so I set it up thus:
hda: (80gig)
60gig: WinXP
20Gig: Red Hat 9
/with the following partitions:
15gig: /
5gig: /home
1gig: swap
(well, more or less)
So now I have purchased another 80g HD (hdb) and want to move the RH install to it. There's all sorts of posts on LQ about this sorta thing but I couldn't find answers to my specific question so feel free to point me to the thread if I've missed it!
Question:
Can I move/copy the data from the current RH partitions (and re-install GRUB of course so it accesses the new /boot/grub.conf) easily (ParitionMagic? / other?) and still have it boot with everything ("everything" being the RH boot scripts, etc) pointing to the right spots? (the latter being the primary part of the question)
Edit: Better put (I think
) : If I copy the data to the new HD, will RH9 die because it's expecting things to be on hda?
