Network/Internet issues in FC5

I just recently downloaded Fedora Core 5 (was running 4.) I installed it and got up and running just fine. Everything worked great. I then tried to install nVidia drivers so I could use the 3D part of my card and the installation messed up. I found the problem of the install and a fix for it, but to do this I needed to re-install Linux. So I formatted the drive and installed again. No problems so far, until I tried to run YUM. It wouldn't connect to any of the sites to download the files I needed. I next tried to look online and found that my connection was running at extreme slow speeds and I get disconnected easily. I tested with many sites, a slim few worked at normal speed (this site being one of them) but all others would take about 2 mins to load the beginning and between 5 - 20 mins to load all content. I checked my internet on another computer, works fine. Tried resetting my router and DSL modem, still no good. I can't get a decent connection anymore. I tried chaning cables and still no good. The weird part is all internal networking works great. I have no problems accessing and copying files from one of my other computers. My setup:

Fedora Core 5
Linksys LNE-100TX network card
1.6ghz Pentium 4 Processor
768megs of ram
80gig hd
DI-614+ D-Link Router

Any ideas?

UPDATE: Noticed that when I visit a single website, from there on out the site loads normally (even links on the same site address that I haven't visited. ie. www.google.com took a few mins to load, but all the extras like images/froogle load just fine until I press F5 then its slow again.)

Okay bit more info for this hehe, I read on another forum about DNS names not working so I tested. If I Ping yahoo.com it hangs then times out. If I ping the IP address of yahoo.com it works perfectly. Anyone know how to solve this?

edit your /etc/resolv.conf

and put the dns addresses from your isp into it as shown below, yours will be different IP addresses of course. With Fedora, use NeworkManager to edit it, other distros have similar admin utilities. Here is my file contents from FC5:

# generated by NetworkManager, do not edit!

search pacbell.net
nameserver 206.13.28.12
nameserver 206.13.31.12

how do I find out what my DNS is? Do I have to call my ISP?
Also does having a router change my DNS for the internal system? Because if I let the computer obtain DNS info automatically it generates it as

search ytc
nameserver 192.168.0.1

some more info if it helps:
I started the httpd on the linux machine. Works fine on that machine when using http://127.0.0.1 or http://vincent
(vincent is the host name)
however from another computer http://vincent doesn't work but http://127.0.0.1 does. This is getting frustrating hehe
