Question

Hi guys,
I have recently installed Caldera eDesktop 2.4 and then upgraded to Netscape 6.0 from the 4.72 that was packaged with it.
When I visit some websites that use a lot of Javascript (and what site doesn't nowadays?) the browser gets very unstable and does some strange stuff such as frames jumping to the bottom by themselves and not letting you scroll up without jumping back to the bottom a few seconds later, etc. Someone told me these are known issues with Netscape having trouble when it gets hammered with Javascript and that there are some fixes for it, but of course he didn't remember how he fixed hs before. Can someone point me to the fix for this or can someone tell me what I need to do? I hate having to go back to my Windows machine to do my surfing, as I'm trying to wean myself from Bill Gates' tit.
Thanks!

Are you using GNOME or KDE?

Are you using GNOME or KDE? If you are using GNOME then I may have an answer, if you are using KDE I have an answer

In KDE 2+ there is the Konqueror file/web browser. This seems to work oddly similar to Internet Explorer(sorry for the scary somparison). Yes I have had it crash a couple of times(on really odd things) but it seems to be a whole lot better than Netscape.

I am not really familar with GNOME but in theory since you can run KDE apps in GNOME and vice/versa. You should(but probably not) be able to run Konqueror in GNOME.

If you get a chance give it a try

Oh and please dont flame me about suggesting Konqueror :P

KDE

I'm using KDE at the moment, but it's funny you should mention GNOME, as I just downloaded it and used it's installation script to install it. The last step of the script asked if I wanted it to replce my boot manager, and I said "no", figuring I could just figure out how to add a 3rd option to my login screen where it says "KDE" and "Failsafe". I guess I gotta read up on editing the configuration file that this login manager uses. I can't even figure out how to MANUALLY load GNOME. I tried just loading "startx" but that does NOTHING, doesn't even open xwindows. KDE loads just fine. I dunno, I'm sure it will load if I just figure out how to configure it. Does anyone know if there is an easy way to switch back and forth between KDE and GNOME? I know RedHat comes with "switchdesk" or something like that that does this, but I'm running Caldera eDesktop 2.4
Thanks!
