Netscape 6.2.1 problem

Well, I read the not-so-great reviews on Netscape 6.2 and then installed it anyway! I like it but it's not working right. It's probably just busted, but maybe there's something I can do...? So I'll ask...

I'm running Mandrake 8.1 and KDE. I added Netscape 6.2 for text/html in the file associations and moved it to the top of the list. When I click on a URL in KMail (or elsewhere) Netscape comes up with a blank page and there is nothing in the location field. Is this just a big nasty bug, or might it be fixable? I haven't seen any mention of the problem in several days of searching.

BTW I also can't paste anything anywhere in Nestcape 6.2... paste just doesn't work with it. But I did read in the reviews that paste wasn't likely to work right!

Any ideas? Anyone else had this problem?

Tell me how ya changed the file association and i'll give a try over here.

Being a newbie, I went to KDE Control Center, and under FileBrowsing > File Associations I added Netscape for text/html and made sure it was at the top of the list.

That does get Netscape called to handle such files, but it apparently doesn't receive any information about what file it is supposed to open.

i don't use kde, but you'd probably need to include a reference to the file itself, which is usually "%s" at the end of the executable.

cut and paste doesn't work the same as big things like netscape don't use and standard toolkits and such, so don't use standard unix protocols like cut+paste.

personally, i'd recommend a smaller, faster browser like galeon, which is a gnoem app, but can still run under kde. it uses the same rendering engine as nutscrape, but is more compatible.
