Need VLC Help - Record mp3 with jpg display as mp4

Greetings
I have lots of experience recording/editing audio but zero in creating videos. Probably because my question is specific and rather long I've had no luck with VLC FAQ or with google search. Following some tutorials I used Media > Convert-Save to save an mp3 file as an mp4 (which worked fine) but I can't seem to get it to keep displaying a jpeg let alone several as in a slideshow. It will display the jpeg for ~10 secs and then play the mp3 with a blank (logo) screen. I even selected the "syncronous mode".

Basically all I want to do is to get audio to play while a shot is displayed for the length of the audio, What am I doing wrong? or how do I do it right?

Need VLC Help - Record mp3 with jpg display as mp4

Try it with ffmpeg instead of VLC. This may help: https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Create%20a%20video%20slideshow%20from%20images

I can't thank you enough TobiSGD. That worked a treat! The page you listed was exactly what I needed which pleases me no end since Command Line like this once again and as usual proves it's speed and tight control that cannot take place in a GUI without becoming "kludgy" with myriad icons to cover it all for everyone. Again....many thanks.
