need to create high system load

Hi

I am having database issues which I think is only happening when the system is under high load.

i need to prove this though, how can i artificially create a high load on my test system?

sure it doesnt matter but just in case this is a debian sarge system

Can you program? If yes, just create a little program which puts the database under high stress.
What database system do you use?

yep i can program enough to get by. I use mysql.

I have narrowed it down a little to definately be a mysql problem now. took lots of logging and hours of reading them afterwards but got there.

seems to be an issue with transaction locking levels which i now need to go and do a bit of reading on.
