Need to create a swap partition
I didn't creat a swap partition when I installed FC4. As I have 512mb of ram, I want to allocate 1 gig from /home (which IS a seperate partition) to /swap. I have looked around on LinuxQuestions, google, and the mailing list archives, but have not found how to do this. Thanks.

Although this is for RH8, it should work for you as well:

The decision you have to make if whether you want a swap file or a swap partition. A swap file can be realized without resizing your home partition. However, I don't know anything about the differences in performance.

That link looks like it covers everthing.
Prior to 2.6, using a swap file was considered a "second rate" solution.
The 2.6 developers have stated they don't believe there is a (performance) difference any more.

Thank you very much. I'll get to work on that now.

Concerning performance, on the Fedora mailing list I was refered to this article that states that there is no performance difference. However, I will try to go with the partition instead of the file.

If you are to believe just one person on this topic, Andrew Morton is *the* man.
I use only partitions - probably habit/history more than any other reason.
