Need some help with REDHAT 8.0 partitioning
 

I was just wondering if you guys could give me some good tips on how to get REDHAT 8.0 and WIN XP dual booting.
I cant see to completely understand its disk partitioning.
I have in the past manually installed MANDRKE 9.0 along side XP but the RH 8.0 disk partitioning toll has me a little stumped.

My current partitions.

DISK 1
C: 5.0 GB win XP OS
D: 2.0 GB win XXP swap file
E: 35 GB win XP programs
F: 17 GB free space(not formatted) This is the partition I want to install RH 8.0 into. Disk Druid sees it as fat 32. Not NTFS.
8 mb free space

DISK 2
G: 40 GB win XP backup, less demanding programs.
8mb free space.

I cant seem to get disk druid to use the free space even after I delete it and it says free space.
Any tips that arent explained well in he REDHAT 8.0 documentation would be appreciated.

DO I have to set force primary partition.

What errors doyou recieve whn trying to install?

I had heard in a review at extreme tech that RH 8.0 does not have a disk partitioning tool. IS this correct.

OK I went throught the install this time using automatic partitioning.
I chose the option to using existing free spce of which there is 15GB this is the message I got.

Could not allocate requested partitions.
The following erros occured.
You have not defined a root partition(/) which is required for the install of Redhat. This can happen if there is not enough free space.


ThenI went through and tried to use automatic partitioning and chose the option.

Remove all existing Linux partitions. This time it gave me the error.

Boot partition /boot might not meet boot constraints for your architecture. MAke boot disk.

SO I continued and noticed that it had assigned 3 partitions withing the 15 GB space. So I proceeded onto the boot loader config. But I could not see the option to install the boot loader onto a floppy.
SO there it is. Basically I just want use the unformated 15 GB free space parttion that I used XP cd to create and create the proper partitions for linux withing there without moving any of my existing Windows partitiions. Also iw ill not install the boot loader onto the MBR of XP.
So what do you think.

What were the 3 partitions? Soemthing like
/
/home
/root
/boot

post what they are for u. Sounds liek it may nto be automatically partitioning correctly for u, and stopping u with that error.
