Need Modem Help

My modem isn't working when I'm using pengaol (yeah I know aol sucks, but it's free for me) from linux. It will dial the number but when it tries to connect it sounds strage (different from when it connects in windows, scratchier I guess). It's an AZTECH MDP-3900V-U HCF modem. I've download the drivers from http://www.mbsi.ca/cnxtlindrv/ already but they failed to make it connect properly. Any Idea what could be wrong with it? I'm thinking maybe the commands are wrong but I'm not an expert and have no idea. This is the results from the modem query program:

=======================================
= RESULT OF MODEM QUERY =
=======================================
NUMBER OF MODEMS FOUND = 1

MODEM #1:
PCI CONFIGURATION INFORMATION READ:
VENDOR ID : 14F1
DEVICE ID : 1066
SUBVENDOR ID : 122D
SUBDEVICE ID : 4033
REVISION ID : 08

DEDUCED INFORMATION:
VENDOR NAME : CONEXANT
DEVICE NAME : SMARTHCF P95 DATA/FAX/REMOTETAM/SPEAKERPHONE
SUBVENDOR NAME : AZTECH -- HTTP://WWW.AZTECH.COM OR PACKARD BELL :
HTTP://WWW.PACKARDBELL.COM
MODEM TYPE : HCF
WINXP INBUILD SUPPORT : YES

Thanks for any help you can give me

Did you double check that the drivers installed correctly? Do you know how to use the minicom utility to check your modem from there? is this external or internal modem?

Ok, I've got the modem working (not with pengaol) but it cuts out after 10 minutes of service. Anyone have any ideas?

I have the same problem with my HCF Conexant modem cutting out after 10 mins. These modems are really winmodems. But if you think it's a command issue, there is a pdf located at the bottom of this page. Please, let me know if you get over this hang-up issue.

Good Luck

HCF Modem...

I am using an HCF modem, it seems to work fine. I suppose the problem could be that you are not using the correct drivers. Be sure to download the drivers for your version of Red Hat, kernal version and CPU.

http://www.mbsi.ca/cnxtlindrv/hcf/downloads.html

Installation:
http://www.mbsi.ca/cnxtlindrv/hcf/install.html

Remember: The drivers are still beta.

Staz,
what is your modem? I'm using a modemblaster with the same hang-ups as kreator.
