Need help with Ubuntu installation on new HP computer
Ubuntu 22.x lts user
HP Elitedesk G3 - used computer just bought
I installed Ubuntu on it twice. It was giving me 3 options at boot up, first was Ubuntu and third was some Windows 10 still stored on a 256 meg disk (which must be on the motherboard as I only have 1 SSD drive(1TB in size) installed on it).
After like 3 boots, however, the computer will boot into a Grub type message, right off. It just has Grub and the option to type something (or hit Tab).
How can I get this system to boot properly every time without going into this startup grub menu?

After the third install of Ubuntu 22.x lts, it seems to be working like I want it to - it doesn't even give the 3 options at boot up anymore - just goes straight into Ubuntu as I like.
I would like to learn more about this "Toshiba" 256 meg drive that is in the computer, because there were no physical drives in it when I opened it up. Is it built into the mother board?
I'll mark this as solved in a few hours after further testing it...

You've been using Ubuntu for many years now; at least eight, under your different ID's. A similar thread from two years ago about installing Ubuntu/distros:
https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ro-4175689535/
..so it's hard to know why you can't perform an installation now, when you have done so many times previously. And if you'd like to learn more about the machine you just bought, you can either: - Read the manual for the device.
- Open it up and look at it
- Investigate the BIOS
In short, do some basic research like a 'scientist' would. Not sure what you expect us to tell you when all you say is "Toshiba 256 meg drive". A VERY brief look at the HP site indicates it's an NVME drive which was an option on that system, if you bothered to try to look it up.

Two thoughts:
Get a copy of the hardware manual for that machine. You should be able to find it at the manufacturer's website.
Try the command
It might give you some clues.

It absolutely does appear on the website and is easily found. The OP just didn't bother to look.

Should be a Toshiba NVME drive, according to the manual. Doesn't look like anything special. If it was me, I'd install the OS on the NVME drive, and the rest of my data on the other drive. Should be easily done after having done multiple installs over the past eight years.
