Please dont ask others for the answers to questions you need to find out on your own. The learning process is in you finding them on your own, not knowing the actual answers. (:

then youre not looking hard enough. Try crafting a google search from some keywords from your problem. e.g. 'unix' or 'linux' might be a good one to have instead of suse, as the cli systems arn't usually distro specific, so a more general term is better. the actual problem you have there is "how to change password" so including that in quotes or not might be a good idea also.

The answers are out there, you just need to think your way into finding them instead of searching randomly.. (:

im trying to help you learn, and not just pilfer the answers. If youre so good with searching, you wouldnt be here asking for the answers, right? (; So humble up and try again.

lost password

Press Alt, Ctrl and F1 keys all together: that will drop you to a text console (if you not always there, cause you can't login)

-- Are you logged in as normal user say 'logout' and login as root
!!!! NOTE: BE VERY,VERY CAREFULLY DOING THE FOLLOWING STEPS !!!
!! Enter 'joe /etc/shadow': On the left column search for your login name (eg. bully)
!! The 2nd field, separator is the colon ':', is your encrypted password.
!! Delete everything between the colons, example:

bully:$2a$05$a0LrExbFYaTReVQ0tQ5pNle:13108:0:99999:7:::

!! when you have done the line looks like, note the two colons after 'bully'!

bully::13108:0:99999:7:

!! Press Ctrl and X keys together to save the file and exit of joe.
-------- Re-login as normal user and change your password.

Good luck!
