need help with dual booting xp/suse9.1

I have a computer with XP already on there on one harddrive and then I would like to put a 20GB in there just for Suse 9.1 so I would have a harddrive for each operating system.

The SUSE is on a DVD-rom and my computer doesnt have a dvd reader so could I install the linux onto the 20GB harddrive with another computer that has a dvd reader and then plug the harddrive in to my orginal computer and get it to dual boot successfully?

and if so what would I have to do to get it to that point?

Thanks

Better get the DVD-reader from the other computer to yours.

Yes, if your 20gb drive is the boot device.

In the other computer set it up as the boot drive, connect it with our main computer, this drive should be booted (if the other one is not already boot), when your in Suse setuo your Lilo/Grub by making appropriate changes to the configuration files, and then your ready to go.

I dont know which bootloader Suse uses Grub or Lilo, either one are easy to use and control.

It would probably be a lot less work throwing the DVD Drive in your computer and installing, then returning the DVD Drive to your friend. There is also less of a chance of failure. Do you know anyone with an external DVD Drive?
