Need help w/ movie player on 64-bit system

I just upgraded to SuSE 10 and moved over to a 64-bit system. Since doing this, I can't get any videos to play with mplayer, kaffeine, totem, or xine and I have the w32codecs installed. Here's what I've done so far:
MPlayer
Obtained latest source and tried to compile following instructions on Mplayer FAQ to compile in 32-bit mode. I got this error:
./configure --target=athlon_xp --cc="gcc -m32" --as="as --32" --with-extralibdir=/usr/lib

Even though the header files are there. Posted to Mplayer mailing list but no joy.

Kaffeine
Won't play anything. MOV files just show a blank screen, WMV files give no resource available message. Post to Kaffeine mailing list but no joy there either.

Xine
Just get message, no demux available.

Totem
Just get message: No decoder found

My question is this:
Is there anyone out there running on a 64-bit system that has been able to get a movie player to work on their system. If so, any details would be greatly appreciated.

Hello!

I am successfully running mediaplayer(s) on a 64 bit system. I am using gentoo, so I am not sure of how much of my settings you can use.

I have installed a 32-bit binary of mplayer along with a compiled 64 bit mplayer. I have also installed the win32codec-package. The result of this is that I can use 'mplayer' for playing common media files that have open-source codecs, and I use 'mplayer-bin' for more obscure media formats.

I also have Xine installed, and it also plays more or less anything I throw at it. For xine I did not do anything special, so I think it's a 64-bit binary. The 32-bit emulation needs some libraries in order to work, but as these are very distro-specific I can not help you with this one.

Anyway I just wante dyou to know that 64-bit and multimedia does not rule each other out!
