Unhappy Need help on sendmail

Hi all,

i need help on sendmail.

i have install and configure sendmail to receive email for my domain. The mail server is in the DMZ zone. How ever, last few days, an auditor has come to audit us.

The changes that has to be done is user should receive their email using LAN mail server. My company has buy a new server which is using windows 2003 for the mail server and for active directory and also for domain.

As we all know the Ms windows 2003 has already has it own mail server.
smtp and pop3.

so what i need to do now is forward / transmit all mail from mail server (DMZ) to windows 2003 (LAN) mail server.

at the DMZ mail server already has aliases, when i try to forward all mail using mailertable, all the aliases are not recognized.

anybody has experience about this ?

thank you.

The only advice that I can give you is to scrap sendmail completely & go with qmail. Sendmail is very difficult to configure & is full of security holes. I have taken the following from a qmail tutorial site called Life with qmail ( http://www.lifewithqmail.org )
Quote:
qmail was designed for high security. Sendmail has a long history of serious security problems. When Sendmail was written, the Net was a much friendlier place. Everyone knew everyone else, and there was little need to design and code for high security. Today's Internet is a much more hostile environment for network servers. Sendmail's author, Eric Allman, has done a good job of tightening up the program, but nothing short of a redesign can achieve true security.
Qmail, on the other hand is quite easy to configure & there has never been so much as a single report of someone finding any sort of security flaw.

I did quite a lot of research about a year ago looking for a good MTA that is easy to install, configure & maintain but is also secure, & qmail won hands down. There are many, many tutorial sites out there to help you learn qmail, & I checked out most of them, but the one I settled on was www.qmailrocks.org This site was extremely simple to follow & absolutely invaluable.

If you have the choice, remove sendmail immediately & fire up qmail, you'll not regret it.

Good luck & let me know what you decide.
