need help installing mhash

I was trying to install mhash by rpm when I got this :

[root@ns src]# rpm -Uhv mhash-0.9.7.1-1.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.4) is needed by mhash-0.9.7.1-1.i386

How can I install it ? I don`t think upgrading glibc is a solution. If it is, can someone guide me to a howto on upgrading that without breaking up the server ?

Easiest would be to find an RPM that matches (you didn't say where you got the rpm from. CentOS or DAG's RHEL repo?) your distro else build mhash from source RPM. Isn't that hard since Mhash hasn't got any weird dependencies (see DAG's Libmhash).

Well, DAGs rpm database helped me, I found the necesary rpm. I was trying to use a fedora rpm( bad idea

). Moving on with the install. Thanks
