Microsoft don't make their Media Player for Linux. Only for Windows. I have had some success installing it through Wine.

if you want to play an mms stream like mms://EMAP1.planetwideradio.com/metroradio then MPlayer can play them, if you want to do something else then please explain.

my successes with streaming media are sparse at best. anybody have a mplayer/wine/etc solution that can play the following URL:

http://www.streamaudio.com/listen/pu...station=kgo_am

it tries to feed an mms stream to my browser but fails even though the mplayer plugin mostly works.

thx if anything, -bp

ive never got the mplayer plugin to work properly but if you can find the url to the mms stream then you can play it like 'mplayer mms://url/to/stream/', ive just spent 20 minutes trying to find the actual url from www.streamaudio.com and they seem to have designed there pages to make it almost impossible to find the actual url, i would suggest emailing them and see what they say.

thx kev82 for checking out that painful streamaudio site and confirming that it's a real pain. this morning i tried crossover office with ie6 and crossover plugin with microsoft media player and streamaudio crashes both. time to get that m$ junk out of my sys and go with a cheap AM radio for the traffic reports.

thanks again.
