Is there something I have to do to get an answer to a posting I have never gotten a respone when posting on this forum. Are there people out there that will help someone that doesn't know anything about Linux but really wants to learn. I have been reading two books about linux.

It helps if you don't double post the same problem. You agreed not to when you signed up.
You printer problem. You got a reply from someone who had the same problem and solved it. Have you tried their solution? If so, what happened? Keep everything in the same thread, and if that solution didn't work, post and explain why. Then you may get more replies. Looking at Red Hat's website couldn't hurt, and using the search function here would be a good idea, too. Don't forget, most questions have already been asked and answered by people who voluntarily visit this board.
megaspaz thanks for you help I am really new to how forums work I really appreciate the help. The reply given didnot help for my printing problem have any other ideas unclegerry
okay. gonna need a bit more information. i'm not gonna look to find out the features of your model hp, but instead gonna ask questions pertaining to how you have your hp printer set up.
how is your printer set up? is it connected directly to your computer running linux? or are you networking your printer? if you're networking your printer, is your printer hooked up directly to a windows machine or through a router/hub? if the printer is hooked up directly to a windows machine i would assume that you're still using a router/hub since you're probably running a network although you could be using windows Internet Connection Sharing to have linux access the internet in which case the windows machine would be acting as the gateway and you wouldn't be using a router/hub. i dunno, either way if the printer is hooked up to the windows machine, we'll need to know how you got linux set up to get on your local area network (your home network).
if you're printer is hooked up directly to a windows machine, i did a little tut on linux printing using windows printer sharing on a network using a router/hub that i did for someone else a while ago. you'll need to find and use the appropriate driver in the printer conf gui though. also ignore the line about deleting any printers already in samba, since if i remember correctly, you can't do that in swat.
