I have a bios that may not support LBA-48, and I need to use a 320GB hd as the only hd in the machine... Any access attempts above 131GB fails miserably and locks the system. Updating the bios is not an option.
it was a problem with the filesystem formatting utilities...
i got around this by installing to a smaller hard drive, formatting the partitions. then i put the properly formatted hard drive back as hda and installed fine.
