Question Nautilus not showing cifs mounts

I have a script that mounts some windows shares, and in Fedora 28 they are not showing in FILES. I think it's just that my old-ish script is mounting them to a non standard location?

Can anyone help me understand why my mounts don't show in Nautilus (Files). It was working in RHEL7

I suspect that you connected to the shares in Nautilus or whatever file browser your using on RHEL 7 which automatically created bookmarks. Not so when you manually mounted the shares using your script. You can manually create the bookmarks in Nautilus for the shares.

I have the same script in RHEL7 that I used, but the only difference was the mount point.
In RHEL7 I used:
/media/ShareName
In Fedora 28 I've tried using both of these:
/run/media/username/ShareName
/media/username/ShareName

Is there another path for mounts that Nautilus(Files) is looking for?

I would try to mount a share using Nautilus and then look in mtab for the mount point it uses, but I can't browse my network through Nautilus to mount a CIFS share, which is a separate issue.

Thanks.

I added a screenshot showing where the CIFS mounts ARE listed in Nautilus "files"

Anyone know why it doesn't work in Fedora 28?

Please post your script. Without seeing the script it is impossible to say except that RHEL 7 ( I assume ) is using an older version of Nautilus then Fedora. Different versions of Gnome / Nautilus change the command line mount point of gvfs shares.

Typically removable media like USB or optical disks will be automatically mounted at /media but not CIFS shares unless manually mounted by root.

If you want mount a CIFS share in Nautilus and be able to access it from the command line you need to install gvfs-fuse. This creates a mount point for the shares at /run/user/<username UID>/gvfs.

While you may not be able to browse the network you should be able to manually access a share in Nautilus by clicking on Other Locations and connect to server via the command smb://server_name. Once you press enter you should see all browseable shares. Click on the desired share and enter username/password if required. To access the share from the command line use the path above. For example for your main user:
cd /run/user/1000/gvfs.

The output of the ls command should show the share directory.
