Nautilus cannot open desktop launchers

I have screwed something up with my desktop application launchers when I tried to change the application to open a mounted ntfs drive. I am using red hat 8.0 with Gnome. The error message I get when I double click any desktop icon is, for example;

Nautilus has no installed viewer capable of displaying "/home/ptaylor/.gnome-desktop/Trash".

When I login as any other user Nautilus works fine. Does anybody have any suggestions?

try deleting that user and making a new one or the same..
just move your files to a safe directory then move them back again
