MySQL (not working with Apache on first boot)

Hey, I'm running Redhat Linux 8.0, and trying to setup a web server.

The Problem is that MySQL doesn't seem to be working properly until I run ./configure.

When I go to my web site http://x.x.x.x is says it can't connect to MySQL through a certain socket.

The thing that fixes it, is that I run ./configure in the install dir, then it can connect fine. I don't understand why I have to keep running the configure to get it to work? Thanks in advance for any help

the problem may be that mysql is placing the socket file in a weard place, most likely /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock. PHP defaults to look for the socket /tmp/mysql.sock.

What i did was just make a symbolic link from /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock to /tmp/mysql.sock.

Im sure you can tell mysql where to place the sock file but i really havent looked into it and my motto is "if its not broke, dont fix it."

Hope that helps somehow
