Angry MySql

Ok boys and girls hres a question for you, I'm running Red HAt 8.0 and mysql and heres the delemma. When setting up new php scripts on the server I seem to keep getting this error. mysql can't find database hp-car, which of course is the name of the database, this the the entire error and it seems to have no other information about it.

I'm running RH 8 as well yet had some trouble with mysql at first.

Make sure the database is located in /var/lib/mysql/dbName as that is where it looks for it by default.

Can you login to the database via a shell?
mysql -u userName -p

Let me know if you can do that first
