my /var/log/syslog only logs the last 12 hours or so

Hi
My connection keeps disconnecting so I wanted to check my syslog file for diagnostics...but it seems that it only logged the last 6 hours after a restart following an electricity failure.
Another thing, is there a seperate log file for the pppoe connection >?

Thx

logrotate will run every once in a while, each time it will move content from syslog into syslog.x and the others will be moved to syslog.x+1.gz
