My plan to get rich! (not really) But help needed anyway!

Hello all,
Been awhile from last time visited here on the good ol' linuxquestions domain... I'll introduce myself again.

The names Steve Williams, and I'm currently in High School, looking and researching my ways into paying for a 4-year college plan (Parents are certainly not rich, I'm kinda out there on my own). Apart from working 60 hour weeks at $9/hour pay, things aren't that bad. But recently, I was browsing good ol' Ebay and found a search result tallying these:

http://search.ebay.com/search/search...=mandriva+2006

I was thinking it a possibility of jumping on the wagon as these sellers did. I know I bought my first Linux distro on ebay, as I didn't have the correct software to burn the ISO, learning thereafter there was plenty of free apps to do the job.
Selling a free product? If it works I suppose. Please dont judge me by the 40-year-old needs a job type; I'm definitely not!

So that said, My Question: I just wanted to kind of know the legalities of Linux and the GNU license in more laymen term. From the way I take it, this wouldn't be illegal in anyway. Just wanted some more brains on this.

Also, Theres lots of sellers doing this on DVD. I planned on doing CD's; I never learned how to burn 3 ISO's to boot on a DVD. Any solution on this?

If theres any help out there, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks guys

You are selling the CD and your effort to download the disk and burn it as an .iso so I think as long as it's allowed to be freely distributed you are in the clear to sell these.

I wouldn't use the "ppl do it on ebay" as a defense for anything thou since ppl have sold bodyparts and babies on ebay I think...

I would be upfront that this can be downloaded free of charge and that you are providing a service. Otherwise, you may be committing a lie of omission.

I would love to make money and spread linux. It seems like a win win...

If you want to make money with this I would put up flyers and solicit small businesses and homes to sell yourself as someone to deploy, install and configure linux systems. I am interested in doing this in my area...

Someone buying a new computer has to spend up to $400.00 per computer if they want XP, Windows Office, and let's say... Photoshop... you could sell your services for $50 a PC to install a free distro of Linux and then charge a set fee for return visits...

You would be honest, provide a real value to your customers and gain a lot of experience on running your own business, sales and customer service.

Not all distributions can be legally sold. Only distributions containing only software whose license permits this can be done as such. Debian is a stickler for this, among others.
