Unhappy my.cnf


I can't find the my.cnf file, but MYSQL is running and databases are working fine. I can find the my-medium.cnf example file. How can this be, Does MYSQL run in a default type mode????

MySQL uses its default values, if no custom .cnf file is provided.

To change any of its values, take one of the example .cnf files (like your my-medium.cnf)
and copy it to /etc/ and name it my.cnf, that it is /etc/my.cnf.

Then restart mysql and the values are read.
