my beef with konqueror

So I've been using konqueror for about two months now...since it was the default browser on my gentoo install. I really like...the fonts are fantastic, it's quick, and plugins are really easy to work with. I've run in to a couple snags though that are really bumming me out.

1. Java issues
I have blackdown 1.4.1 installed and the only way I can get konqueror to see it is to use the netscape 4 plugin (javaplugin.so instad of java_oji.so). This isn't a problem except for some pages (like sportsline.com) take forever to load, and then they don't even load right...taking a long time to load an applet that doesn't even show up.

2. Dissappearing scrollbars
From time to time the scrollbar dissappears and I have to resize my window to get it back. This isn't really a problem but it's really annoying. I've tried bugzilla but, since that is completely new to me, is terribly confusing.

I've recently installed phoenix and it handles java much better but the fonts are terrible. Konqueror is very close I think to being an excellent browser. By no means am I ripping either browser, c'mon they're free right? People have put a lot of hard work into them and it shows. Just my 2 cents I suppose on the struggles of getting everyhting to work.

Mozilla is the king of all browsers.

Just my 2 cents worth.

mozilla is nice but I don't like the way it deals with fonts.

but don't you have to do all sorts of links to different folders and go through a bunch of stuff to do it? I don't get how to do all that.

1) Go to Settings-->Configure Konqueror-->Java & Javascript and put the path to the java binary in the Path to Java executable, or 'java': box, mine is /usr/lib/j2sdk1.4.1_02/jre/bin/java

In that case the non working applets were propably made with an M$ program and will only work correctly in Internet Exploiter.

it's a applet-vm or something like that. It's the live scoreboard for fantasy baseball at sportsline.com. It worked last year under mozilla. This year though...it doesn't even show up in konqueror, and phoenix tells me i need to have java2 installed but I do. It's not life or death of course but it is annoying.
