Multimedia question

Hi all,

Well, I tried to find a special forum for Multimedia to post my question to, but I did not find any, so I decided to post it here.

Since this is my first encounter with multimedia, other than watching videos on YouTube, I searched for a command that would help me get some info from a certain video file I have, I found ffprope and I got this output:
Code:
avprobe version 0.8.6-4:0.8.6-0ubuntu0.12.04.1, Copyright (c) 2007-2013 the Libav developers
  built on Apr 2 2013 17:00:59 with gcc 4.6.3
Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from 'raafat.mp4':
  Metadata:
    major_brand : mp42
    minor_version : 0
    compatible_brands: isommp42
    creation_time : 2011-12-12 23:58:51
  Duration: 00:37:54.92, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 450 kb/s
    Stream #0.0(und): Video: h264 (Constrained Baseline), yuv420p, 480x360, 351 kb/s, 25 fps, 25 tbr, 50 tbn, 50 tbc
    Metadata:
      creation_time : 1970-01-01 00:00:00
    Stream #0.1(und): Audio: aac, 44100 Hz, stereo, s16, 95 kb/s
    Metadata:
      creation_time : 2011-12-12 23:58:52
I have no idea with this out put mean and I was wondering if someone can help me decode numbers in this output. I will take it from there to start reading more about what you may mention in your answers. Like bitrate, fps, tbr, tbc, etc...

I would also appreciate it if someone can direct me to some source(s) from which I would know more about editing videos (under Linux of course). I am currently reading about ffmpeg/avconv.

Thanks in dvance

The video container is mp4.
The video is encoded h264, yuv420p 480x350 resolution, 25 frames per second. Basically old-fashioned TV.
The audio is encoded aac. I forget what the Hz is, but the audio is compressed to 95 kiloBYTES per second.

This is from 2009. A little old, but it should get you started on gui editors. http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/top5-li...stem-software/
