Multihead Performance Problem

I am running Red Hat 9, with 2 dual head Matrox G450's. I wrote a program in GTK to display radar loops on a 1 particular monitor in the 4 monitor setup. If I run the program and choose 1 of the 4 heads to display the running loops the processor runs about 22%. This is true for 2 of the 4 heads. If I run the program on either of the other 2 heads the processor is pegged out around 98%. I'm trying to determine if it is X or GTK, I don't think it's the program but I could be wrong. Any thoughts?
