Multi Boot from CDROM

Hello,

I'm working on trying to get a cdrom based bootloader to boot 3 different images I have from a cd. One is a compact version of linux to run a few different disk utilites from it. The second is a win98 based bootdisk for some tools with it and the third is memtest86. All three of these are currently on seperate cd's / floppies and we want to combine them into one.

So what I am looking for is a bootloader that will load anyone of these from a menu when booting off this particular cd.

I was thinking grub might be able to do it, cus that can load just about anything but from what I can tell it wants to always install its self to the hd. I know there are CDROM based distros of linux..

Any thoughts as to the right bootloader?

Thanks!

Very Cool

I was interested in doing the same thing (except with a USB Thumbdrive) and started to look at different options. Can you post the steps you took to accomplish this and possibly a link to download a copy. Thanks.

The bootloader that RH and Mandrake uses is syslinux. I don't know if it will boot multi OS's.

Have you tried searching www.freshmeat net?

I am fumbling around with syslinux right now. I get it to the point where it looks like it is booting the image and then it just says

Loading test.img..................................Ready

The documentation is kind of hard to follow, so if anyone has any ideas. Let me know. Thanks
