my /var/logs give the following thousand errors into mail.err. what could it be?
Code:

Well, a program called sm-mta is trying to run /usr/sbin/sensible-mda, but it's not there.
The question is, what is sm-mta and why is it continually trying to run a nonexistent executable?
To answer that, one would need to know what your system is (server? desktop? killer robot?), what distro you're using, what software you've installed and have running, etc.

Server debian stable squeeze with apt-get install mutt sendmail-bin
... for packages, ... please wait (...)
You could try installing sensible-mda from the repositories; the question is, what is trying to send mail? Do you have some program calling sendmail? Have you tried sending mail via mutt?

I did installed long time ago sendmail-bin and mutt always worked.
mutt and sendmail are already installed, so I do not understandign why this issue in mail.err.
