Mplayer installing...for FC4


Hi friends,
i downloaded the MPlayer rpm for FC4 "mplayer-1.0-0.24.20060223.2.fc4.i386.rpm"
but when i tried to install this using "rpm -ivh <file>" it is showing the following error...

error: Failed dependencies:
libXvMCW.so.1 is needed by mplayer-1.0-0.24.20060223.2.fc4.i386
libaa.so.1 is needed by mplayer-1.0-0.24.20060223.2.fc4.i386
libfaac.so.0 is needed by mplayer-1.0-0.24.20060223.2.fc4.i386
liblirc_client.so.0 is needed by mplayer-1.0-0.24.20060223.2.fc4.i386
liblzo.so.1 is needed by mplayer-1.0-0.24.20060223.2.fc4.i386
libmad.so.0 is needed by mplayer-1.0-0.24.20060223.2.fc4.i386
libmp3lame.so.0 is needed by mplayer-1.0-0.24.20060223.2.fc4.i386
libmpcdec.so.3 is needed by mplayer-1.0-0.24.20060223.2.fc4.i386

please help me installing Mplayer or any other player so that i can watch videos...

I would recommend you seek help from the FC forum. I am running FC5. I turn to them when I have a specific FC related problems.

I'm running FC4 also but I haven't actually tried installing Mplayer on it.

I don't know if this would help you but I'll say it anyway.
I built my own LFS and embedded Mplayer on it. In the procedure of the BLFS 6.2 http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs...a/mplayer.html it says there that all the depencies of the application should first be installed before the application itself. My MPlayer worked fine in my LFS system.

Maybe you need to check if you have and installed all those dependencies enumerated at the error message.

thanks for the replies,
i have one small doubt !! wwhether installing rpm is same as un-tarring .bz file and installing that ?? is rpm alone enough for Mplayer to work ??
