mplayer firefox plugin

Thought I could get a quick answer here.

Why is the mplayer browser plugin called "Google VLC multimedia plugin 1.0" in about

lugins? What is the correlation to google? More specifically this plugin is the following set of files: mplayerplug-in-dvx.so mplayerplug-in-gmp.so mplayerplug-in-qt.so mplayerplug-in-rm.so mplayerplug-in-wmp.so mplayerplug-in.so

Please explain. Thanks.

hmm... I ditched the mplayer plugin & went with the VLC plugin. My about plugins says:

does your looks anything like that? maybe you're using the VLC plugin & don't know it?

You are using a dated version of mplayerplig-in. The latest is 3.25 and it doesn't include that plug anymore since google video now uses flash.

Still odd that they would name the wholy plugin by that title. Yes, I'll upgrade, and while where on the subject of the mplayer plugin: have you gotten it working with opera?
