Since audiogalaxy was sadly closed, many people use the gnutella network. I suggest gtk-gnutella check it out, it should be on sourceforge.net, but some people prefer Edonkey, also available on Linux.

There is a thread around somewhere on using WinMX under Wine. I haven't got it to work, myself, but my bro uses WinMX (under XP) all the time, and it is a really good piece of software IMO. At the mo I use gtk-gnutella too... and that reminds me, there is also another fairly long thread around somewhere on people's favourite P2P software(s) under Linux. Go hunt.

You got gnutella, the edonkey network and for a little adventure gift, direct connect and overnet support.
I'll second Thymox for useing gtk-gnutella for mp3's.For edonkey you might be better off with mldonkey. The edonkey client wasn't updated in ages plus mldonkey can connect to other networks and automagically adds a actual server list at start up.

I myself use LimeWire, you can get it on linux.tucows.com. It is all ran off Java so it is really hard on memory resources.. I better program I am told is giFt which you can find on sourceforge yet I haven't gotten it to install yet successfully. Limewire works good for me but is generally hated by most it seems

I went and downloaded emule just a moment ago to give it a try. Yeah, it's a Windows program, but it runs well under Wine... if I only knew some servers...

Why not just grab mp3s from usenet. There are thousands of them, especially in alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.
