mp3's on mounted windows drive
I have a lot of mp3 files on a windows drive that i would like to access when i boot up into linux redhat 8.0. I mount the fat32 drive that the files are on and i can see them. The problem is when i try to play them in xmms the player wont play them. It does reconize them though but will not add them to the play list or play them.
any ideas why xmms wont play my mp3's that are on a fat32 mounted drive? Also if i copy the file over to the linux partition i still will not pay it. |
thgis has nothing to do with the files being in the windows drive.
XMMS in RH8 does not have support to play mp3 files. Try using gmplayer(graphical) or mplayer(from command line) |
do you have command line players like mpg123,mpg321,amp any kind of those players.play in those see what it does.do you have checked xmms
for any wav files.if it plays then it doesn't support mp3 format.for that download a patch from the net.or use xmms of older kernels like 7.2 redhat replace ur this version of xmms with that |
thanks for the feed back on that.
I am now trying to download the rpm files for mplayer and I'm running into all kinds of package dependices and cant install it. I keep getting Unlocatable package Required by libdvdread mplayer libdvdcss mplayer libdvddcss mplayer divx4linux mplayer lame mplayer lirc mplayer libdv mplayer aalib mplayer So are some of these files ones that need to be added from the package options in redhat or do i need to download them? |
When I used Red Hat 8.0, it didn't play mp3's either (in XMMS - didn't try anything else). Try downloading the patch from here. It solved the problem for me.
