Talking mozilla with jre1.4.1 plugin, any experience?

Hi,
I need to use jre1.4.1 for the mozilla plugin, but I can't set it up correctly. I have no problem installing & running jre1.4.2. I am wondering if anybody out there could give me a hand.

The error scenario I get is like this:
1) open mozilla to point to a website.
2) the applet box shows a logo, when click on it, it says
"This page contsinas info of type (application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.4.1) than can only be viewed with the appropriate Plug-in."

A quick check on the "About Plug-ins", the nearest similarity that I have is "application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.4.2_04".

So I tried to download a jre1.4.1 & make all the required symlink, but a check at the "About Plug-ins" still doesnt show there is any type for "application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.4.1".

Thnks!

system settings:
redhat el3
mozilla 1.4 .( just install mozilla 1.8)

jre1.4.1 won't work with any recent version of Mozilla as Mozilla is compiled with gcc-3.2 and jre1.4.1 is compiled with gcc-2.9 . Unless you compiled Mozilla yourself with gcc-2.9 or you got a version of jre1.4.1 from Blackdown that was compiled with gcc-3.2.
Where is jre1.4.2 installed on your system?

/usr/java/...is not enough. Please enter into a terminal
Code:
find /usr/java -name libjavaplugin_oji.so
and then post what it says. Copy and paste it into your browser please.
