mozilla question

I already have Opera, but I'm thinking of downloading and installing Mozilla.

I go to the website looking for source tarball to download, but I can't find which is the last stable release. On one page, it says that only developers should download and attempt compiling the source version, they say it is very complicated.

Anyone know which is the latest stable build of mozilla? And what's the problem with downloading the source version?

Yea but should I install from source? the mozilla site is saying that i shouldn't install from source unless i'm a developer, they say its tricky to do.

they're all on this page, http://www.mozilla.org/releases/ under the 0.9.9 heading, you want either the x86 tarball or an rpm. or the talkback enabled build in the big gray box labeled < try these >.

and once you'ev got 0.9.9, you can get the brand new galeon 1.2.0 and use that instead!

I don't understand why the mozilla website says it's so hard to install from source.

Gee, I had to download and install zip, libIDL, run /sbin/ldconfig and then compile mozilla. Not that hard...

Is it just me, or does Mozilla take too long to load up?

in the /dist/bin directory there is a file called mozilla. that's the binary exe. for example for me it is:

/usr/src/mozilla/mozilla/dist/bin/mozilla

yeah.. but that's nasty. also i'm installing from source as i'm trying to compile galeon from source, which needs mozilla headres and stuff. not got a clue how to configure it properly tho, as it can never find mozilla libs / home or includes... doesn't seem to be an obvious candidate for any of those.

edit.. Oooh there it goes... cool wasn't happy using a redhat i386 rpm on a mandrake i686 system.

David, how did you get all your mozilla binaries in those neat locations?

Mine just stayed where I untarred and compiled them (like acid_kewpie said, nasty).

I have it the same way as David. I just use the talkback installer and choose only the browser, PSM, and quality agent.
