Mozilla Install Troubles

When trying to install the latest Mozilla RPM (0.97) I received an error message that mozilla-mail needed the older version (0.94) of Mozilla. I unistalled mozilla-mail thinking that might do the trick... Anyway, now when I try to install 0.97 I receive the error message

file /usr/lib/libnspr4.so from install of mozilla-0.9.7-0 conflicts with file from package libnspr4-4.1-6mdk

Anyone have some advice for a newbie?

Using Mandrake 8.1 btw.

It's a good idea to uninstall an older app and it's dependencies, when installing a newer one and it's dependencies. Not always are they compatible.

Problem is, I can't uninstall the 0.94 version of Mozilla. It's needed by nautilus-mozilla which is in turn needed by several other applications.

I get these problems too, where you try to get rid of one thing and it needs to get rid of pretty much the rest of the sytstem to satisfy it's dependencies. Tis worse than windows leaving things in the registry when you uninstall..

No the problem isn't if you CAN un-install it. The difficulty is, how to go about it. It depends on how bad you want the upgrade. Quite a few apps are entwined with Nautilus, so you have to dissassemble it and it's dependencies for the Mozilla install. First time I upgraded (total newbie) I just logged the apps I un-installed and then pulled the rpms off the cd, when it came time to put it all back together, I just reversed the order (somewhat). Great way to learn about dependencies.

BTW, I prefer other mail clients, than that offered by Netscape. It can't stand alone.
