I have a question. If there is no Shockwave driver for Linux, is there another way to go to websites like www.cartoonnetwork.com ? My kids go there all the time, it is really my last obstacle to overcome for getting rid of my last windows machine at home.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Uh, there is a shockwave driver for Linux....except that it isn't open source. (Or I could be wrong, it could be open source, is RealPlayer for Linux open source, or merely freeware?)

Download RealPlayer for Linux (on their site)...then copy all the shared object files into your browser's plugin directory....

Or at least symlink it there. Then when your browser loads up, it will load those plugins, and be able to play flash games.

I use crossover office (cheap) to run shockwave... That allows firefox on linux to work on the game sites and stuff, tho I rarely use it...

It gets confusing as there are a few different plugins... You can get native linux shockwave flash but may need windows shockwave director (in wine or crossover)... Or maybe java :)

the cartoon network just seems to use flash, I think?

Thanks guys -- I will try these suggestions out. I like the real player option but wine might be a good option too.

Thanks again

Yes, there are many plugins, but you can just symlink them all over. Problem solved. ;)
