I've been having Java problems with Mozilla 1.5. Trust me, I've gotten ALL THE ADVICE possible and nothing seems to work, symlink, reinstalls of Java AND Mozilla, still no working Java with Mozilla(works with konqueror though)
Question is, should I ditch Mozilla 1.5 and upgrade to 1.6? Or, should I ditch BOTH ideas and get Firebird 0.7? I noticed it's ONLY a browser. Is Firebird AND thunderbird a better choice than having the all-in-one Mozilla 1.5/1.6? People seem to have no Java problems with it either, LOL.
I use Firebird and Thunderbird and I have faced no problems with it. I tried Mozilla 1.6 but it in no way compares to Firebird. I suggest that you go in for Firebird.
I agree. I use Firebird and Thunderbird and I love them. I am on a MS O/S right now...=( games are important to me! and I can't get Java to run in Firebird, but when I am on my Slack I hove no problems.
I decided to DL Firebird .7 and Thunderbird, but for some reason, when I click an addy on Firebird to eMail, it says "mailto" not a valid protocol." That's ANY eMail link I click to send a mail to......
I also cannot seem to get Java to work under there either. Java sucks....LOL, it's not wanting to work and is being stubborn, LOL. So at teh present moment, there is no advantage to me switching, as it also seems to load just as fast as Mozilla 1.5.....
I used to use Firebird/thunderbird, but now I use only Mozilla. IMHO, 1.6 rocks..
Also, did you try with the install manager extension? It allows you to add other extensions without much sweat. In fact, in windows, I used it to add java to mozilla. Same can work in linux too.
I went there, and the one for gcc3.2 after the Download and installation" was complete, it said "not a valid extension package", which I'm guessing means it thought I didn't have gcc3.2? I dunno WTF is going on, LOL.

Maybe I shoul;d just keep using Konqueror, LOL.
Konqueror is my choice. It loads in a blink and does everything I need a browser to do. But getting java to work in the other browsers should not be a problem. Make sure you're installing the plugin in the right browser. If it's for mozilla(version) make sure it goes into mozilla(version) and not just mozilla. When you start mozilla check the version of mozilla to make sure you're using the right one. There might be more than one version on your system.
