The BSDs don't use normal partitioning schemes, usually you give them 1 partition and then slice that up. The 3rd screen you posted is where you would create the slices you want, including swap.
And as for your modem, I highly doubt the same sources will work. Check the docs that come with the modem source, it will say if it was written with anything other than Linux in mind.
